Hispanic Scholarship

Hispanics are the fastest growing racial group in the United States and thus, in the American work force. However, they are the group with highest percentage of high school dropouts, and only a small percentage of Hispanics have bachelor's degrees. Many Hispanics are not familiar with the process of applying for college and financial aid, and they are not aware that there are numerous Hispanic scholarships offered. As a growing number of Americans are Hispanic, it's imperative that they get the best education possible in order to contribute to the economy, not only for their sake, but for the welfare of the country.

The Hispanic Scholarship Fund recognizes the importance of an education and is determined to double the number of degree-holding Hispanics. The foundation offers support by providing valuable information about colleges and financial aid, along with giving out scholarships itself. One of their main objectives is to encourage Hispanics to continue school and focus less on employment until they have earned degrees by minimizing the financial strain that college can put on a family. The Hispanic Scholarship Fund also has outreach programs to help with filling out forms and providing resources for finding colleges and scholarships.

Hispanics can find scholarships for almost any type of school they plan to attend. All types of college education are supported, from community college to graduate school. The Hispanic Scholarship Fund offers awards for graduating high school students who will be entering college for the first time as well as those who are already in college and just need assistance to complete courses in their degree plans. As of now, nearly $200 million has been distributed to Hispanic students by the Hispanic Scholarship Fund since it was established over 30 years ago.
