Fresno Women's Network
The Fresno Women's Network is an organization that promotes women's issues and encourages women to support one another in every aspect of their lives, including education. The network sponsors scholarships for women in the Central Valley region of California by raising money through fund raisers and separate donations. The scholarships are awarded to women who show promising professional futures.
Women who qualify for the Fresno Women's Network Scholarship will be current college students who have at least 12 units of college credit complete when the scholarship is awarded. These scholarships for women are partly based on academic merit, so applicants must have a GPA of at least 3.0. Candidates for a Fresno Women's Network Scholarship will also be evaluated on their service to the community and on their goals for the future. A woman's financial need is also taken into consideration by the selection committee.
Decisions regarding the number of scholarships for women that will be awarded are made by the Fresno Women's Network, depending on the amount of funding and the number of qualified applicants. Materials needed to apply for a Fresno Women's Network Scholarship include the official application from the Fresno Women's Network, a college transcript, verification of registration at an accredited college, and three recommendation letters. After examining qualified applications, the organization's Board of Directors conducts interviews with finalists for the scholarships. Recipients of the scholarship are presented with the award in July of each year at the Fresno Women's Network luncheon. If the network decides not to give out any of their scholarships for women any given year, the funds will be held to use for any scholarships that may be awarded the following year.
